Here are some useful tips for finding things to do and things of interest in Fort Lauderdale Florida:

It has often been said that Fort Lauderdale Florida is the ideal place to live, to visit and to relocate a business. The City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida is often referred to as the Venice of America. We have 165 miles of local waterways and many of the waterways have deep water, perfect for sailboats and yachts. The number of yacht owners in Fort Lauderdale is per capita the highest in the world. We have the weather, we have the marinas and we have the waterways. If you love boating then Fort Lauderdale just might be the place for you.

Recently we have had a $26-million beachfront renovation, which includes wide brick walkways, lush landscaping, and a "wave wall" with neon accent lighting. This has given new life to our world class beach and provides illuminated walkways for nighttime strolls along the beach. Day and night you'll find people out walking, rollerblading and biking along our new walkway.

Another great location for a nice stroll is on the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk. This recently completed walkway follows the New River and provides scenic views of all types of boats and yachts. Along the walkway you'll find plenty of interesting boutiques, restaurants, shops and museums as you stroll along the beautifully landscaped pathway. We often have festivals and outdoor events along the New River.

In our Historic District you'll see the old 1901 trading post which is now called the Stranahan House. It is only a short walk to the Arts & Science District for family entertainment including the Museum of Discovery and Science.

Riverwalk also encompasses Esplanade Park, where you'll find some interactive exhibits which the children will love if the adults will move out of the way and let them enjoy them. Nearby you'll find the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

As you can see the Riverwalk is much more than a sidewalk next to a river. Have a rest in one of the many gazebos or sit and have a picnic with your family and friends while you enjoy the butterfly garden and native tropical plants.

You'll also find some fantastic museums here including everything from history to science and art. Each museum offers their own special attractions and events. No trip would be complete without a visit to the Bonnet House. This 35-acre estate sits right on the ocean with an easement which allows A1A to pass through the property. The home was owned by an early settler to Fort Lauderdale. Two men met and one decided to develop Galt Ocean Mile while the other was in favor of keeping the beauty of the beach and that is why we have 35-acres sitting on the ocean still in the condition the it was when the family left the home.

Our parks include lighted baseball, basketball and other features for your enjoyment. If you include the parks in Broward county then there are many more options. These other parks would inlcude cities such as Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Hallandale, Hollywood, Pompano and a few others that are near but not in Fort Lauderdale.
